Before attending a networking event, it is important to spend some time preparing yourself to ensure you get the most out of it. By preparing yourself beforehand, you are more likely to form stronger connections and improve the success of your business.
Here are our 5 things we recommend you must do before attending your next event:
Find the Networking Event Venue
Make sure you are prepared and research the venue and your route to the networking event, so you are on time. Whether you are travelling on public transport, or by car, plan your route and remember to bring change for car parking if you need it.
Print some Business Cards
Business cards are hugely important for a networking event, so make sure to get some printed ahead of attending. They only need to have basic details such as your name, phone number and email address on them to be effective.
Research the Guest Speakers
Researching the guest speakers and the hosts before you turn up at the networking event will help you talk to them after their talks. It may help to think of some questions you can ask them beforehand too.
Prepare your Elevator Pitch
Many networking events will give you the opportunity to stand up and tell the other attendees about yourself as well as what you hope to get out of the networking event. Spend some time preparing your short elevator pitch before the event.
Check your Social Media Accounts
Before attending the event, do a quick sweep of your social media accounts for anything that you wouldn’t like a potential business connection to see. They will most likely scope you out on social media after attending the event.
